Over the last three decades, Pilar has provided leadership at institutions across the private equity, hospitality and nonprofit sectors, earning a strong reputation as a business and civic change leader. She is regarded as a strategic, innovative, multidisciplinary, change agent passionate about the rise of diverse leadership, promoting equal access to economic opportunity and investing in education.
Prior to founding interDUCTUS | Renovad, as CEO of New America Alliance, Pilar led an access to capital initiative that enabled diverse asset management member firms to expand aggregate assets under management (AUM) to almost $80 Billion. She led Federal and State advocacy resulting in the first-ever US House Financial Services Committee hearing on diversity in finance, advancing support for diversity in corporate boards and the initial version of the DREAM Act, and launching state hearings and legislation aiming to diversify management of public pension assets.
As Palladium Equity Partners Vice President, Pilar was part of the team that raised a historic $780 million Hispanic market investment fund and propelled the firm to surpass $1 Billion AUM. She led brand development to position Palladium as the foremost expert private investor in the U.S. Hispanic market, showcasing the strengths of the firm and its portfolio, and highlighting the surge of the Hispanic market as a private equity investment opportunity.
Pilar began her career in hospitality management with Hilton and the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau. As the Bureau transferred her from San Juan to Washington DC, Pilar became the second highest producing sales professional. She was immersed in the then burgeoning Hispanic market when she joined the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as a VP of Marketing & Events.
Pilar serves on the Stateside Advisory of the Federal Financial Oversight & Management Board for Puerto Rico, the Hispanics in Philanthropy Power Up Fund Impact Cabinet, and the boards of Latinas in Business and BoricuActivate. She is a founding member of the American Jewish Committee’s Latino Jewish Leadership Council and a member of the Association for Change Management Professionals. Pilar has been recognized by New America Alliance with the Chairman’s Award, by New York State Assembly with the Abrazo Boricua Award, by Council of Urban Professionals with the Catalyst Change Agent in Finance Award and by Latinas in Business with the Entrepreneurship Award.
Pilar is a graduate of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management. She holds Change Management Certifications from Cornell University and Prosci. She is a Master Certified Life Coach through Life Coaching Institute, accredited by International Coach Federation. She holds a RYT 200 Yoga Teacher Certification from the Blue Osa Yoga Retreat Institute, accredited by Yoga Alliance. She is pursuing additional certifications for Diversity & Inclusion at Cornell University and Sustainable Capitalism & ESG at UC Berkeley School of Law.
